Bio-Technopark Schlieren-Zürich

In very close proximity to the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), the University and Zurich University Hospital, a science park for life science companies and institutions has developed in the last two decades, which has now acquired both national and international significance. Based in and around what was once the site of the company Schweizerische Wagons- und Aufzügefabrik AG, 90,000 m2 of laboratory, production and office space is now leased to 50 companies and 30 academic institutions, representing a healthy mix of young start-ups and global companies as well as university clinics, institutes, and research groups.

As part of the Technopark Alliance, the Bio-Technopark supports start-up entrepreneurs, provides them with made-to-measure infrastructure, and promotes the exchange of ideas between all of the life science organizations based there.

The Bio-Technopark has gained a great deal of respect, thanks in part to the successful sales of start-ups to major corporations and international companies such as Roche, Novartis, J&J, GSK, Pfizer, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Cell Medica, Sunstar and Heptares. Considerable financing rounds, the initial public offering of Molecular Partners, and successful product developments have also made headlines. Today, the life science organizations on the site employ more than 1,500 people.
