KUORI participates in Fashion for Good initiative

„If adidas, Target & Zalando can rethink plastics, what’s stopping the rest?” 👟✨
We are proud to see leading players taking real action against the massive environmental impacts of footwear production. Their commitment to testing and validating bio-based alternatives shows that disruptive innovation requires courage and collaboration. 💡

It’s inspiring to be surrounded by industry leaders who are pulling in the same direction, taking risks, and paving the way toward a truly sustainable footwear industry, one where fossil plastics and microplastic pollution are no longer part of the equation. 🌍

At KUORI, we believe that the future of materials lies in bold partnerships and a shared willingness to rethink the foundations of production.

Fashion for Good is proud to launch The Next Stride: Bio-Based Materials for Footwear Soles, a 12-month initiative focusing on a critical footwear component: the shoe sole, today predominantly made from fossil fuel-based polymers.

Together with industry leaders adidas, Target, and Zalando, pioneering innovators Algenesis Labs, Balena, Evoco, KUORI, and YULEX, and technical experts SATRA, the project aims to unlock bio-based alternatives for footwear sole production and to accelerate the shift towards a lower-impact future for footwear.

The findings from this work can then be used to inform the development of a roadmap for larger-scale adoption, incorporating considerations such as impact accounting, feedstock availability, end-of-use solutions, and the infrastructure needed to support broader implementation.
