Dr. Achim von Leoprechting elected Chairman of CUTISS Board of Directors

Switzerland, 23 June 2026 – CUTISS, a late-stage clinical company at the forefront of tissue therapeutics and regenerative medicine, has announced the election of Dr. Achim von Leoprechting as Chairman of its Board of Directors.

Dr. von Leoprechting succeeds Prof. Martin Meuli, co-founder, who has chaired the CUTISS Board since the company’s foundation in 2017 and supported its development from a university spin-off into a late-stage clinical company now in Phase 3. Prof. Martin Meuli remains a member of the Board.

Dr. von Leoprechting brings more than 25 years of international leadership experience in global life sciences, diagnostics and medical device markets. He most recently served as CEO of Tecan Group AG from 2019 to 2025, where he led the company through a period of growth, digital transformation, operational expansion and strategic acquisitions. He previously held senior leadership roles at Tecan, PerkinElmer and Packard BioScience, with responsibilities spanning laboratory automation, reagents and service including R&D, global operations and commercial growth. Dr. von Leoprechting holds a Ph.D. from the University of Freiburg i.Br. in cell biology and cancer research.

Dr. Daniela Marino, CEO and co-founder of CUTISS, said: “Achim brings operational and governance experience that is very valuable for CUTISS, particularly as we continue to advance denovoSkin™ and prepare the company for its upcoming milestones.”

Dr. Achim von Leoprechting, Chairman of the Board of CUTISS, stated: “I am honored to join CUTISS as Chairman. CUTISS is addressing a major unmet need in burn and reconstructive surgery with a clearly differentiated approach. I look forward to working with the Board and the CUTISS team as the company moves towards commercialization.”

Prof. Martin Meuli, co-founder and former Chairman of CUTISS, commented: “As CUTISS has evolved, the profile required from the Chair has evolved as well. The company’s next phase calls for strong business, commercialization and scaling experience, alongside its scientific and medical foundations. I am delighted by Achim’s appointment and believe his profile is very well suited to guide CUTISS in the years ahead.”

Phase 3 trial in severe burns ongoing across Switzerland and the European Union

CUTISS is advancing denovoSkin™, its personalized, bioengineered skin tissue therapy, while continuing to build the industrial capabilities needed to produce at scale.

The Phase 3 trial in adult and adolescent severe burn patients is ongoing, with active recruitment in over 20 specialized hospitals across Switzerland and several EU members states.

CUTISS has conducted randomized, controlled Phase 2 clinical trials in burns and reconstructive procedures. Long-term safety and efficacy readouts show that denovoSkin™ can safely spare donor site harvesting and improve scar quality in comparison to autografting.

To date, CUTISS has also treated several massive burns under compassionate use (named-patient basis) in Switzerland, the EU, UK, and US.

Currently, denovoSkin™ is manufactured manually at CUTISS’ in-house GMP facility, and the company is industrializing its proprietary automated scale-up production platform in partnership with Tecan. In 2025 the company also announced a strategic partnership with the Red Cross Beverwijk (RKZ), one of the EU’s leading burn centers.
